2014 Summer Student Program

Grand Challenges Canada’s Summer Student Program offers students a unique opportunity to gain meaningful work experience in one of the following areas: 

  • Targeted Challenges Programs (Saving Lives at Birth, Saving Brains, Global Mental Health)
  • Stars in Global Health
  • Communications
  • Grant Administration – Finance
  • Legal
  • Business Analyst

 Application Deadline: Thursday, January 23, 2014 @ 5:00 p.m. ET.*

*Please note that the application deadline of January 15, 2014 has extended to January 23, 2014.

Eligibility: To be eligible for a Summer Studentship, students must be currently enrolled in, or graduated within the last year from, a post-secondary institution at the time of submitting an application. International students are eligible to apply as long as they meet the aforementioned criteria and are authorized to work in Canada.

Salary Range: Compensation is aligned with the University Health Network regulations.

Important Dates:

Application deadline: January 23, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
Successful applicants notified: March – April 2014
Summer Student Orientation: May 5, 2014
Summer studentship begins: May 6, 2014
Summer studentship ends: August 29, 2014

How to apply to the program:

A complete application includes:

  1. Summer Student Program Application Form (online)
  2. Summer Student Program Short Answer Questions Form
  3. Resume (maximum two pages)
  4. Two recommendation letters (academic and/or professional)

Begin by downloading the Short Answer Questions Form.  Once you have completed the Short Answer Questions Form, you must fill out an online Application Form at the following link You will be asked to attach the completed Short Answer Questions Form and a Resume before you can submit your application.

Recommendation letters must be submitted separately by the referee. The applicant must send a copy of the Instructions for Referees document to their referees to ensure that the letters of recommendation meet the requirements. Do not forget to provide your referee with the same email address that you are intending to apply with as this will be required for them to submit their recommendation letter. 

Please note that once your application has been submitted it will no longer be possible to make changes to it.
